THE WIZRD OF OZ film that everyone is familiar with was not the first. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1910) is the earliest surviving film version of L. Frank Baum's 1900 novel, made by the Selig Polyscope Company without Baum's direct input. It was created to fulfill a contractual obligation associated with Baum's personal bankruptcy caused by The Fairylogue and Radio-Plays, from which it was once thought to have been derived. It was partly based on the 1902 stage musical, though much of the film deals with the Wicked Witch of the West, who does not appear in the musical. A nostalgic short film it comes in MPEG-4 format.
  Compatibility Note: It plays with Windows Media Player on recent versions of Windows but if you have an older system we have also included the popular VLC Media Player for you to install so you can play this type of video (and many others) in the future. However the video's compatibility on all possible computer systems cannot be guaranteed.

Note to buyers. Although the underlying book material is now in the public domain due to their age,  much additional editing, cropping and deleting of erroneous or damaged material has also been carried out personally, making this book set a unique and a much improved offering. It is provided here at a particularly low cost, mainly to cover materials such as the disk and label plus various associated overheads & fees.

It is now presented in a convenient Adobe Reader form (.pdf files) suitable for all computer systems. This allows for all the really essential illustrations and photos to be shown as opposed to the text only versions often made available. The Adobe reader itself is completely free to download from the Adobe web site, although it usually comes pre-installed.
